We all want a perfectly well behaved dog, but where do you start? Training can be one of the most frustrating and rewarding parts of being a pet owner, it takes time and effort and can be difficult if you don’t know where to start. The staff at Gainesville Dogs have years of experience using positive reinforcement training, building behavior plans and helping both dogs and their humans have a more fun and productive experience with training.
Training is such an important part of responsible dog ownership.
Everything from simple house breaking to knowing their name, coming when you call and obeying simple commands falls under the umbrella of training and has a major impact on the quality of your life with your pet. We want everyone to feel confident in their dog’s behaviors and to be able to build amazing and lifelong bonds with their animals. Let us share our knowledge and insights with you to improve your relationship with your dog, their behavior and your day to day life together.
We firmly believe in the principles of positive reinforcement training. Sometimes called “clicker training” in the dog world, when these techniques are applied correctly and consistently they can make a world of difference for you and your pooch. The basic premise is that you want to reward a correct behavior – an idea that sounds simple but can be quite nuanced in application. But you don’t need to be afraid of diving into this complicated task alone, our amazing staff are here to help you every step of the way.
One of our most popular services is an introduction to these methods, a one hour class in your own home where your Pet Concierge will teach you all about our training philosophy, get you started on a plan for specific behaviors and walk you through the first steps of preparing you and your dog for the highest chance of success. We are available to keep working with you and your dog on your continuing training plan to help it grow and evolve to match the needs and strengths of your individual pet as they (and you) get the hang of it.
What kind of training do you need?
Are you just looking for a little help to shape or change a specific behavior? Our expert staff can certainly assist with these types of training requirements as well. We have several specific behaviors that we commonly work with including basic leash / walking manners and jumping on people. We are also able to help with desensitization training of all kinds, whether you have a dog who is shy around people or other dogs, is afraid of the car, or even the vacuum. We want every dog to have a long, happy and healthy life with as little stress as possible, and we are dedicated to working with you and your dog to make that happen!
